This role serves as the leader of the financial department and reports directly to senior management. We are looking for a visionary individual with leadership capabilities who will ensure our organization's financial health and regulatory adherence. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of accounting practices and previous exposure to the Commercial Real Estate sector, contributing to our company's fast-paced growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform annual financial closures, ensuring reconciliation of long-term investments and ownership accounts.
- Generate comprehensive year-end financial summaries and collaborate with external accountants for tax filing purposes.
- Reconcile various accounts, including cash, assets, investment portfolios, and loans.
- Handle tax extensions and preliminary payments across multiple entities.
- Support new ventures by overseeing escrow, insurance, and asset documentation for acquisitions.
- Establish new legal entities, handle registrations, secure EINs, and set up banking and accounting systems.
- Prepare detailed financial reports and schedules for refinancing purposes.
- Manage funding for construction initiatives and oversee related expenditures.
- Ensure accurate accounting and documentation for property sales or disposals.
- Supervise the daily functions of accounting teams, ensuring accurate record-keeping across all financial transactions.
- Conduct internal reviews of financial practices, ensuring compliance with regulations and sound management of assets and liabilities.
- Maintain compliance with tax laws and registration obligations at the municipal, state, and national levels.
- Coordinate with certified accountants to ensure smooth financial reporting and tax submissions.
- Maintain a digital and organized filing system for all financial records.
- Manage payroll for real estate operations.
- Deliver regular cash flow analysis, entity-specific financial reports, performance assessments, and lender-required documentation.
- Monitor the receipt of investment distributions.
- Liaise with external property managers to ensure timely submission of financial documentation.
- Handle payroll, sales tax filings, annual business renewals, and issue W-2s, 1099s, and related tax forms.
Desired Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA is highly desirable.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in financial management or accounting, including at least two years within real estate or property management.
- Expertise: In-depth understanding of accounting for real estate, financial reporting, and regulatory adherence.
- Technical Skills: Proficient with accounting software, including QuickBooks and Yardi, and advanced Excel capabilities.
- Analytical Abilities: Strong problem-solving and data interpretation skills, especially with complex financial data.
- Attention to Detail: Demonstrates precision in handling financial data and reports.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective coordination with stakeholders.
- Leadership: Prior experience leading accounting teams and managing day-to-day financial operations.
- Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with real estate-specific tax laws and compliance standards.
